The Unity Games Bowling Edition drew together Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) families from all over the Ecclesiastical District of Oregon at the KingPins Family Entertainment Center in Portland, Oregon, USA on September 5, 2022.
Jointly facilitated by the Christian Family Organizations’ (CFO) district leadership, the sports event was “one among many activities that have been lined up leading to the 60th anniversary of the Buklod organization later this year,” according to Brother Gem Baitan, the assistant district supervising minister.
The Buklod members played individual and team bowling matches, while the KADIWA, Binhi, and Children’s Worship Service (CWS) members played for fun. They were joined by prospective members and guests from various local congregations. “Brethren from various local congregations in the district participated in the activity. Some even coming from as far as Boise, in Idaho,” said Brother Vem Canlas, district CFO overseer.
One of the guests, Tito Vasquez, expressed his appreciation of the sports event. “It’s great being here with everybody with the chance to meet new acquaintances and have a wonderful time bowling. It’s a great way to get back into the world after the lockdowns,” he said.
At the end of the Unity Games, Brother Dernilo Pascua, district supervising minister, led the awarding of winners for each category.
Noel Pabilonia won the individual matches for men, and Jessica Catabay, for women. As for the team matches for men, the team of the Beaverton Congregation gained first place, while for women, that of the Portland Congregation secured the prize.
“The brethren’s participation in this activity proves that the Ecclesiastical District of Oregon remains united with the Church Administration and upholding the love of brotherhood,” said Brother Canlas. — With reports from INC News Section
