Church members, especially parents, from the Ecclesiastical District of Northern Europe attended a virtual seminar on Pediatric Basic Life Support (BLS) on January 17, 2021.
Guest speaker Janet Valle, a nurse from the Arlov Local Congregation, demonstrated how the BLS for children should be done.
“It is important to know what to do and how to react in emergency life-threatening situations. Although we hope we never have to use it, it is significant to give proper basic life support to a child, as it may increase the chance of survival,” she explained.
Sebastian Durieux from Stockholm Local Congregation, said, “It is really important to be reminded, in such urgent situation, what someone has to do. Because it is a matter of minutes, otherwise you could really put the other person’s life in risk.”
Valle expressed hope that, during this pandemic, when all family members are staying at home, “the brethren gained confidence to act quickly when necessary.”
“I hope … that their feeling of hesitation, if there is any, is reduced and that they would feel secure knowing that they are capable to provide life-saving interventions to a child, while waiting for EMS (emergency medical services) to arrive,” she said. — With reports from INC News Section
