As an expression, among others, of their love for their fellowmen, which is a Christian duty of theirs, brethren from the Local Congregation of Quirino, in the Ecclesiastical District of Ilocos Sur, participated in the first-ever blood donation drive hosted by their congregation. They were joined by brethren from nearby congregations.

The socio-civic event was held at the multi-purpose hall of the Quirino Central School on June 24, 2022 and was facilitated by members of the Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS) in collaboration with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC)–Ilocos Sur Chapter.

“When I learned that there will be a blood donation drive in our area, I was excited to participate because I know that it will be beneficial not only for our fellowmen but for my health also,” said Romeo Sacayan, from the Quirino Local Congregation.

“This [blood donation] activity showed the fervor of the brethren not just those in our local but those in the CMDPS, as well. We can feel how eager they are to participate the activities launched by the Church Administration. Our brethren didn’t mind the long travel to be here,” Brother Fernando Salenga, resident minister of the said congregation, expressed.

On behalf of the PRC, Veronica Tactay, the chapter administrator, expressed her gratitude to the Church Of Christ. “There were so many donors who came and participated in the activity. The collected blood units will certainly go a long way in helping our fellowmen,” she said.

“We can see how glad the brethren are in volunteering for the activity. They are thankful to the Church Administration because they were given another opportunity to be of help to others,” enthused Brother Henry Robles, district Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer. — With reports from INC News Section
