“It is a great blessing when we accept a duty inside the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ), for it is none other than God Who gifts it to His servants,” said Lea De Vera, newly appointed deaconess from the Local Congregation of Malacañang, Ecclesiastical District of San Carlos City, Pangasinan, Philippines.
She was among the 186 brethren from various local congregations who took their oath of office during a special gathering on November 26, 2022. This markedly augmented the lineup of officers in every local congregation in the district, which is vital in the district’s edification efforts.
From the house of worship of the Local Congregation of Sta. Barbara, the gathering, which was officiated at by the district supervising minister, Brother Eduardo Olipas, was streamed live through videoconferencing to 48 other local congregations.
Through the Bible-based lesson that Brother Olipas delivered, the attendees received reminders that their sacred duties are precious gifts from God, which they ought to perform with all devotion for the sake of the Church as well as for their spiritual advancement.
After the homily, Brother Francisco Julian, the district committee on edification (COE) overseer, administered the oath-taking of the additional officers among whom were deacons, deaconesses, choir members, and officers in the Christian Family Organizations (CFO).
“Hindrances do come as I perform my duty but I will continue fulfilling it come what may,” said Joel Layno, choir member from the Local Congregation of Lunec. — With reports from INC News Section
