On February 27, 2022, Iglesia Ni Cristo members from the Local Congregation of San Miguel, Ecclesiastical District of Leyte East held a coastal clean-up activity. The site designated for the activity lies a few kilometers away from the congregation’s house of worship in Barangay Bairan, San Miguel, Leyte, Philippines.

“It feels good whenever we could be of help to the community in our own little way, which is why I don’t hesitate uniting with the Church Administration, such as in activities like this,” Beverly Canonoce, Binhi officer, said.

Equipped with cleaning implements, the brethren combed the beach for garbage, such as plastic bags and discarded wrappers, that may otherwise lead to pollution. They collected these in sacks and afterwards, disposed of them properly.

“Church Of Christ activities fill me hope and inspiration,” said Darwin Vargas, a candidate for baptism, who also participated. He believes that participating in Church activities, like the environmental activity he was part that day “makes us closer to God as it manifests unity,” he said. — With reports from INC News Section
