To Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), their being away from family has been exacerbated by the current pandemic crisis. To help them cope with the situation, Church Of Christ members from the Sathorn Group Worship Service (GWS), Ecclesiastical District of Thailand gave them a treat through the Tribute to OFWs activity on February 7, 2021.
One of the organizers, Rizi Joy Ibe, KADIWA officer, shared how they prepared for the event: “Prior to this activity, we personally contacted the loved ones from the Philippines of our OFW brethren here in Thailand to ask for their video messages and greetings.”
Some messages the brethren received were reminders that they should always stay safe, take good care of their health, and always pray to the Lord God. Overjoyed, Marivic Gandeza, said, “I was surprised when I saw the video from my family. It was so heartwarming to receive their message for me.” Motivated and inspired in her line of work and most of all, in performing her Church duties, she added, “Thank you, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, for allowing us to conduct this activity. We will continue to be one with the Church Administration in every activity being launched.”
The brethren’s families also expressed their gratitude that they were able to be part of this activity. Before the activity ended, the district Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer, Brother Marco Arnel Tumanan, imparted an inspiring biblical advice.
Activities such as this serve to remind the brethren that as long as they remain active in fulfilling their sacred duties to the Almighty God, He will be with them to help them overcome all the trials and difficulties they are experiencing. — With reports from INC News Section
