In order to learn how to become effective communicators, KADIWA members from the Sathorn Group Worship Service, Ecclesiastical District of Thailand attended a webinar on “Effective Communication Skills.” The activity was held on January 9, 2022, with Rizi Joy Ibe, KADIWA congregation president and a teaching-assistant, as the keynote speaker.

Sharing the best practices one can improve on in order to be an effective communicator, Ibe emphasized the importance of having an open mind, empathy, and confidence when conversing with other people.

“Effective communication is more than just exchanging information. It is also understanding the emotion behind the information,” said Christian Banasan, KADIWA congregation vice president, who was among the attendees. In an interview, he said that he learned that communication includes not just “being able to convey and respond to messages” but also “listening attentively to know the full meaning of what is being said, which makes the other person feel understood.”

The activity was made more interactive when those present were given the chance to share their experiences that highlight the importance of knowing how to be effective communicators.

Having learned from the webinar, the young brethren were thankful to the Church Administration for launching this kind of activity that help them nurture relationships, especially that with their respective families and friends. — With reports from INC News Section
