When Typhoon Ulysses (International name: Vamco), the 21st tropical cyclone to hit the Philippines in 2020, struck Luzon on November 11 and 12, many houses, livelihoods, roads, and streets were ravaged by the torrential rain it unleashed. Immediately, on November 13, 2020, the Society of Communicators and Networkers, International (SCAN) members from the Local Congregation of Navy, Ecclesiastical District of Capas, Tarlac helped in clearing up the surroundings by holding a clean-up drive at Barangay Cristo Rey, Capas, Tarlac.
Donato Tapang, SCAN member, stated, “We immediately held a clean-up activity in our nearby barangays who were more affected by the typhoon to help them clean the debris scattered across the roads.”
Due to the immediate efforts made by the brethren, the roads and streets were cleared and put back to normal. Hon. Arturo O. Joves, Chairman of Barangay Cristo Rey, said, “I am very thankful for the help given by the Iglesia Ni Cristo members in our Barangay. This is a big help to us.”
United with the aims of the Church Administration, the SCAN members said that in times of calamities, they will always be ready to help people who are in dire need. ― With reports from INC News Section
