A week after attending a firefighting training-seminar, officers of the Society of Communicators and Networkers, International (SCAN) in the Ecclesiastical District of Negros Oriental continued to upgrade their life-saving skills this time by training for water search and rescue operations.

The SCAN officers, 60 in number, underwent this training-seminar at the water facilities of the Pigeon Resort in Valencia, Negros Oriental, Philippines on March 26, 2022.

“We don’t know when a calamity would strike our area. What we can do on our part is to always be ready to help save others in times of disasters,” explained Brother Patricio Tabaldo Jr., SCAN President in Negros Oriental.

The seminar’s guest speaker Senior Fire Officer III (SFO3) Micheal Cariño discussed about the basics of swimming, such as breathing and floating techniques, and the different swimming strokes.

Afterwards, as part of their training, the SCAN officers practiced and applied the said techniques especially in relation to rescue situations. — With reports from INC News Section
