With the enhanced skills it imparted, the refresher seminar for Emergency First Responders (EFR) they underwent on January 8, 2023 raised the confidence of the members of the SCAN from the Ecclesiastical District of Cavite in conducting rescue and other life-saving activities during life-threatening situations.

SCAN stands for Society of Communicators and Networkers International.

Facilitated by the organization’s district leadership, the seminar took place at the multipurpose hall of Navarro Elementary School, General Trias City, Cavite, Philippines.

Ferdinand Emaas, from the Molino Congregation and a certified EFR, served as resource speaker. “As SCAN members, it’s our duty to be always of help to our community and fellowmen especially when calamity strikes,” he explained when asked about the importance of the seminar.

The seminar covered several topics including rescue operations post-calamities, emergency response after an earthquake, adult and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and first-aid basics.

“I’m glad that I attended the seminar because it helped me increase and enhance my knowledge about my tasks as a SCAN officer. Through this, I can be beneficial to other people,” expressed Bernalyn Valdez from the Local Congregation of Queens Row.

Brooke Lane Congregation’s SCAN president, Henry Menchero, affirmed that “the things I’ve learned from the activity will come in handy when emergencies happen.” — With reports from INC News Section
