Brethren in the Ecclesiastical District of Ottawa, Canada were filled with excitement as they learned basic sign language in a virtual seminar held on February 19, 2022. Brother Michael Dallo, a ministerial worker, led the seminar.

“The brethren were taught how to approach the deaf and start a conversation with them using basic sign language,” said Brother Michael.

The attendees were taught how to sign the alphabet, numbers, common greetings, and, more importantly, Church terminologies and phrases commonly used in worship services and other Church activities.

Brother Michael added, “The aim of the Church Administration for launching this seminar is to raise the awareness of the brethren about the deaf community and their interest in learning sign language.” Through such an activity, more brethren are seen to accept an office in the Christian Society for the Deaf (CSD), which will be of great help in reaching out to the deaf community, Church members and nonmembers alike.” — With reports from INC News Section
