As with other localities in the Visayas region of the Philippines, Sitio Guise in the village of Dulangan, in Pilar, Capiz was battered by tropical storm Megi (local name: Agaton)—the first to enter the Philippines this year. With its residents still struggling to get back on their feet, Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members from the Ecclesiastical District of Capiz, out of love for their fellowmen, traveled to the said place to give them aid on May 24, 2022.

Prior to the distribution of the relief packages, having been invited by the brethren, the residents of the island community listened to the preaching of God’s words by Brother Orly De Guzman, minister of the gospel. Through the Bible, the Guise locals learned about the importance of looking for and joining the true Church, that is, the Church Of Christ in order to receive salvation when Judgment Day comes. This, they were exhorted, is what all men should strive to do more than anything.

Afterwards, the guests received the relief packages handed over by Church officers and members, led by Brother Raul Alvarez, district supervising minister. The brethren who volunteered for the activity traveled from the district office at Punta Tabuc, Roxas City, Capiz, where the said aid were packed. They travelled almost 90 kilometers from there and took a 20-minute motorboat ride to reach Sitio Guise.

“This aid of the Iglesia Ni Cristo is a big help since our fish ponds, which are our main source of living, were greatly devastated by the storm,” said Rosie Bedeo, a resident of Sitio Guise. — With reports from INC News Section
