MADRID — Brethren from Spain held Unity Games at Centro Dotacional Integrado Arganzuela in Calle de Palos de la Frontera, Madrid, Spain on June 24, 2018.
Teams from local congregations all over Spain, divided into four teams, participated in the activity. There were matches in basketball, football, volleyball, table tennis, and chess.
“For me, this is a great activity, not only for the players but also for the spectators because I saw the fervor and unity in this activity. We are able to participate in the event for the love of brotherhood,” Jonalie Gado, a volleyball player from Madrid local congregation, said.
Maria Theresa Bersonda, women’s basketball player from Barcelona local congregation, expressed, “The event was held peacefully and well organized. This brought great happiness to the brethren and we had the chance to meet the brethren from other locals and it edified us.”
Christopher Mark Arceo, from Madrid local congregation and one of the event organizers, remarked, “Apart from having fun, it teaches us to have patience and perseverance in our goals.”
The winners were as follows: black team won the competitions for basketball Buklod men, basketball Binhi men, basketball women, football KADIWA men, and football Children’s Worship Service (CWS). Blue team won the matches for basketball KADIWA men, volleyball women, and football Binhi men. Jomer Cabusora emerged as champion in Chess.
Unity Games are conducted regularly to promote good health and foster love of brotherhood.
