“I’m very happy that the Church Administration launches activities like this. All the brethren in our local congregation were encouraged to participate, and display their talents in various sports,” enthused Ellen Hernandez, finance officer from the Local Congregation of Mississauga South. “Not only our physical health, but also our spiritual welfare have been all the more strengthened,” she added.

She was referring to the INC Unity Games that she and fellow brethren participated in on April 1, 2023, which was organized by their congregation’s Christian Family Organization (CFO) officers.

Brother Jomar Rumbaua, the resident minister, delivered the opening remarks. He extended his heartfelt gratitude to all the brethren who willingly participated and encouraged them to be active also in all other endeavors inside the Church.

One of the events was the bowling tourney at the Planet Bowl, a bowling alley in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Afterwards, participants and audience alike traveled to the sports venue, the Kings Court, at Oakville, approximately 20 minutes away from the former. There, they enjoyed playing basketball, volleyball, dart, badminton, and chess.

Gina Ramos, local congregation secretary, said in an interview: “I’m proud of my husband who was among the basketball players. This sporting event truly boosted his confidence.”

Winners of this friendly competition will compete for the INC Unity Games district finals, which will be held next month, on May 21 and 22. — With reports from INC News Section
