KADIWA and Binhi members from the Local Congregation of Falconridge, Alberta in the Ecclesiastical District of Calgary, Canada, attended a public speaking seminar on March 16, 2022. Organized for them by the Christian Family Organizations (CFO) local leadership, the activity helped them learn the do’s and don’ts of public speaking and improve on their communication skills.

Through videoconferencing, the attendees listened to the presentation of KADIWA officer Rose Lhyn Gaviola, who served as the resource speaker. Afterwards, they all participated in an impromptu speaking challenge.

Gaviola reminded the attendees that when speaking, they need to be able “to grab the attention of the audience” and that they ought to “make your public speaking more natural, active, and fun; one way to do it is to make eye to eye contact with the audience. In this manner, the audience will feel that they are part of your speech and will love to listen to what you want to say.”

During the impromptu public speaking challenge, the attendees had to speak about a topic after being given only two minutes of preparation. It gave the participants an idea of what public speaking is all about. — With reports from INC News Section
