To commemorate the 105th anniversary of the institution of the Children’s Worship Service (CWS), the weekly worship service for Iglesia Ni Cristo members’ children 11 years old and younger, CWS officers from all congregations in the Ecclesiastical District of Zamboanga Del Sur, in the Philippines, conducted special gatherings in five selected houses of worship on May 7, 2023.

In the said gatherings, the CWS officers offered praises and thanks to the Lord God for the victories He bestowed on the CWS as an organization, His help and guidance in performing their tasks, and His blessings and protection to the young children under their care.

Ministers who composed the district leadership each officiated at one of the holy gatherings. Brother Nelcar Loberiano, district supervising minister, led the brethren at Dimataling; Brother Carlito Gonzales Jr., assistant district supervising minister, at Buug; Brother Reynante Hayuhay, district Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer, at Pagadian; Brother Gomer Quirol, district assistant secretary, at Calian; and Brother Manuel Nasol Jr., district councilor, at Molave.

In their sermon, they encouraged the young officers of the Church to all the more value the trust given to them by God, particularly their duty of shepherding the young brethren in the Church Of Christ, for they are its future generation.

“This special occasion is so vital, especially for the Church officers, for them not only to be strengthened in their faith … for them to continue with dutiful enthusiasm caring for the young brethren in the Church,” said Brother Romy Coveta, ministerial worker with the Napolan Congregation.

The attendees revealed that they received spiritual upliftment through the words of the Lord God and the outpouring of His power through the Holy Spirit. “This activity makes me all the more motivated in fulfilling my sacred duty to our Lord God,” said Charlotte Sumalpong, CWS teacher with the Pagadian Congregation.

On his part, Lawrenz Pangasian, CWS chairperson with the Napolan Congregation, said: “I promise to our Lord God that I will all the more dedicate my life in demonstrating my love and compassion to the duty that I received from Him, by means of guiding my fellow young brethren in the Church.” — With reports from Jobel Anne Hayuhay of INC News Section
