At Barangay Dulangan, a lowland village near the coast of Pilar, Capiz, Philippines, lies the Local Congregation of Bughaan within the sitio of its namesake. In an open space by the woods in the barangay, some 300 meters away from the congregation’s house of worship, a total of 1,000 seedlings were planted on January 13, 2026 as a project of the Ecclesiastical District of Capiz.

Led by district supervising minister Brother Raul R. Ysagun Sr., the tree-planting activity succeeded in planting of narra, jackfruit, kaimito (star apple), camachile, guyabano (soursop), chico (sapodilla), and santol (cotton fruit) seedlings provided by the office of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in the Capiz Province.

Members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) from the 52 local congregations, eight extensions, and six group worship services in Capiz participated in the ecological conservation endeavor.

Even Children’s Worship Service members joined the worthwhile activity with their parents, who aimed at instilling in them early the love of nature. “I planted trees. I’m happy to join this activity,” said Elynna Victoria Jaraza from Roxas City Congregation.

“The bonding with our fellow brethren that we had while planting was truly worth our family effort to be here,” said choir member and congregation secretary Elma Panza from the Local Congregation of Tapaz. She said her family did not mind the 90-kilometer or so travel from Tapaz to Bughaan, arriving at the venue “the day before; we mounted a tent. We thank the Church Administration for supporting this uplifting activity that has also enhanced our unity with them,” she added.

Furthermore, the brethren united in the activity as “it is part of our commemorating the district’s 72nd anniversary later this year,” said Bughaan Congregation resident minister Brother Jocel Lacson.
