ORANI, Bataan — On April 27, 2025, the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) planted 500 mangrove seedlings in Sitio Pulo, Orani, Bataan, as part of their INC Giving Project.

INC members from various local congregations arrived early to participate in the activity, which aims to support residents in communities where fishing is the primary source of livelihood.

One of the participants, Astrude Ryan Santos, said they were excited to participate in the activity. “This is the first time the INC conducted a mangrove tree planting here in this area,” he said.

Emeterio Marabe Jr. came with his family from Barangay Palili in Samal, Bataan, 20 kilometers from the site. “Following the instructions of our District Supervising Minister, Brother Roderick Chulvo, I brought my household to respond to the call of our minister,” he shared.

Among those who participated in the activity was Katrina Sabel Corpuz, an instructor at a state university in Bataan. She highlighted the vital role of mangrove forests, stating, “Mangroves serve as habitats for small fish, which increases marine biodiversity due to the vastness of these forests. They also act as natural barriers, helping to reduce the impact of strong waves during storms and other calamities.”

The Iglesia Ni Cristo is a community partner that helps. It has active members and congregations in more than 160 countries and territories.
