As their way of celebrating their district’s 43rd anniversary, Iglesia Ni Cristo members in the Ecclesiastical District of Leyte East, in the Philippines, gathered for their INC Unity Games that was held at Brgy. Salvacion, Palo, Leyte on June 7, 2025.
All the six areas comprising the district, namely, Abuyog, Tacloban City, Alang-alang, Dulag, Palo, and New Era, had players representing them, wearing designated colors of red, grey, yellow, green, blue, and white, respectively. Together with the brethren supporting them, they led the parade of colors in proudly representing their respective area banners.
The players took their oath of sportsmanship led by Brother Jerick Mallare, which was followed by an opening prayer by district Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer Brother Jean Paul Clutario.
After district supervising minister Brother Raul V. Ramirez Sr. delivered the opening remarks, games of basketball, volleyball, and chess began—each fostering teamwork and healthy competition among the brethren.
At the conclusion of the games was the awarding ceremony. The district leadership presented medals and certificates to the winning teams, which were:
Basketball (men’s): Tacloban Area
Volleyball (men’s): Abuyog Area
Volleyball (women’s): Palo Area
Chess (men’s): Pricilito delos Santos (Palo Area)
Chess (women’s): Raquel Mae Luatick (Tacloban Area)
Technical Support for Video streaming and finance officer Cyrrine Keith Pardilla from San Joaquin Congregation was one of the volleyball players of Palo Area, the winning team. “Prior to this day, we prepared physically and mentally through eating healthy foods, exercising and having enough sleep. But, most of all, we prayed to the Lord God for the success and to keep us safe,” she shared.
“We thank our beloved Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, and our Deputy Executive Minister, Brother Angelo Eraño V. Manalo, for approving this activity in our district that the brethren here really enjoyed. We will always be united with the Church Administration in all the Church’s endeavors,” said Brother Ramirez.
Established in 1982, Leyte District is currently composed of 36 local congregations and three extensions, the oldest of which is the Local Congregation of Tacloban City. — With assistance from Joey Malawit Jr.
