Financial crisis is more often than not caused by overspending rooted from poor or non-existent budgeting (sciencedirect.com). Such the KADIWA leadership of the Local Congregation of Kansas City, in the Ecclesiastical District of Northern Plains, aimed to address during a seminar on proper budgeting held at the function hall of their house of worship on June 22, 2025.
Jalen Juan, president of the student council of the nursing school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, served as its resource speaker. She discussed the importance of budgeting, as well as some fundamental ways by which one can be good at budgeting funds. All these were detailed through the subjects titled Underestimating Income, Overestimating Expenses, Setting Savings Goal, Having Emergency Funds, among others.
“With the inflation on the basic needs which affect majority of people, being good at budgeting is a life saver. I’m so glad to share my experience as a budgeting custodian in my school’s student council. This is also a must so that one can prioritize what is used for rendering services to the Lord God,” said Juan in an interview.
The speaker also shared a budget planner for ideal allocation of finance. A workshop was held for the attendees to create a mock budget based on a given amount of income.
The highlight of the seminar was the Scripture-based lecture of resident minister Brother Edison Solomon. He preached about the biblical truth on the importance of being wise in all aspects of life. He also exhorted the attendees to trust the Lord God to guide them in making life decisions which include financial ones. He also reminded that prosperity in life comes from the Lord God.
He said in an interview after the seminar, “Activities, such as this, are vital for the youth. In this materialistic world, one could be easily enticed by the pleasures that might harm not only one’s finances but also his or her faith in God. As members of the true Church, the youth ought to entrust their future in Him. They must also prioritize doing His works in the Church for them to be blessed with the life they aspire for.” — With assistance from Seth Domine
