July 30, 2025 — National City, California — National City has officially proclaimed July 27 as “Iglesia Ni Cristo Day,” in recognition of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) enduring commitment to faith, public service, and community care. This declaration coincides with the Church’s 111th anniversary celebrated on July 27, 2025.

The proclamation honors the positive contributions of the Church not only within National City, but also throughout San Diego County—highlighting its outreach and humanitarian initiatives that have benefited countless individuals.

National City Mayor Ron Morrison commended the Church’s dedication to uplifting lives, particularly in underserved communities. “The Iglesia Ni Cristo has demonstrated extraordinary dedication to public service,” he said. “The members continue to be a source of strength and inspiration in National City and beyond.” He also acknowledged the Church’s proactive programs, including food and clothing drives, blood donation campaigns, and neighborhood clean-up efforts.

Brother Matthew Capistrano, District Supervising Minister of San Diego County, California, formally accepted the proclamation on behalf of the Church. Joined by fellow ministers, ministerial workers, and Church officers, he expressed sincere gratitude for the recognition, noting it affirms the Church’s mission to strengthen communities through unity and acts of kindness rooted in Christian values.

This year also marks a significant milestone for the local congregation of National City, as it celebrates its 55th anniversary. Since its establishment in 1970, the congregation has grown steadily, becoming a pillar of faith for many families in the area. Over the decades, the Church has fostered spiritual growth, civic engagement, and meaningful connections among residents through worship services, community outreach events, and values-based activities.

The declaration of Iglesia Ni Cristo Day is the latest in a series of acknowledgments the Church has received nationwide for its meaningful contributions to society. It serves as a powerful source of encouragement to members, inspiring them to remain steadfast in their faith and continue their service to others with compassion, humility, and love.

The Iglesia Ni Cristo is a Christian religion in more than 160 countries and territories and a community partner that helps.
