Named after the harbour city in New South Wales, Australia, the Local Congregation of Newcastle held its inaugural worship service on July 12, 2025. District supervising minister Brother Seth Y. Gutierrez officiated at the said occasion. Formerly, it is the Hunter Valley Group Worship Service that was organized in December 2011.

The said worship service was held at the Polish Cultural Centre of the Polish Association Newcastle located at 122 Chatham St., Broadmeadow, New South Wales, to accommodate the many brethren coming from other local congregations, that of Central Coast and Blacktown City, from which those in Newcastle used to attend worship services with.

The congregation’s succeeding worship services will be held at Bruce Street Community Hall, 22 Bruce St., East Maitland, New South Wales.

As they live nearer Newcastle’s place of worship, “from Central Coast, we’re about four families who have all transferred here in Newcastle,” shared local auditor Mary Ann Reaño. She was among the set of Church officers who have just taken oath of office right after the preaching of God’s words. “We’ve grown that much, in faith, in spirit, in being a family. It’s great we’re now a local congregation,” enthused newly appointed head deacon Marc Iles.

On behalf of the congregation and the district as well, Brother Gutierrez said, “We will continue to serve and worship God. We will never neglect it. We thank the Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, for looking after our spiritual welfare. We will remain united with all other activities of the Church.”

The Church Administration appointed Brother Luis M. Baquir as the first resident minister of the Newcastle Congregation. — With reports from Harold Dulay of INC News Section
