Delegates from five ecclesiastical districts—British Columbia, Calgary, Edmonton, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan—gathered in Burnaby, British Columbia for the Regional INC Unity Games. The two-day event, held at Simon Fraser University on August 31–September 1, 2025, celebrated faith, fellowship, and friendly competition.

A parade of colors and friendly matches

Day one opened with a vibrant parade showcasing each district’s color and banner—British Columbia in green, Calgary in red, Edmonton in white, Manitoba in blue, and Saskatchewan in yellow. Leading the parade were district supervising ministers: Brothers Glendo Baitan, Voltaire Tamisin, Rolando Gaviola, Roland Andrade, and Ramil Macaspac.

District secretary of British Columbia Brother Almer Vargas welcomed the attendees, acknowledging the dedication of brethren and officers with their calling. He led the oath of sportsmanship and the opening prayer, setting the tone for unity and excitement.

Competitions kicked off in multiple venues: badminton and table tennis at Central Gym, chess and Scrabble at Fitness Hall, and bowling at Zone Bowling. The atmosphere was full of energy, with lively cheers at the courts.

Participants shared their joy: “It’s an amazing experience to be here with lots of friendly vibes,” said badminton player Arthrel Plaza, a KADIWA member from Saskatoon Congregation, Saskatchewan. “I had wonderful days of playing my favorite game,” said table tennis player Arceo Leviste from Falconridge Congregation. “I loved chess since high school. I had fun,” added Jester Cavading of Maple Ridge.

Finals, Fellowship, and Faith

Day Two brought high-energy finals in basketball at West Gym, volleyball at Central Gym, track events and soccer at the open field. Cheers echoed across the open field and gymnasiums, highlighting the passion and unity of the brethren.

“My wife and I flew 12 hours just to be here. It’s truly worth it,” said basketball player Von Balbiran from Airdrie Congregation, Calgary. “Pregame nerves faded thanks to everyone’s warm welcome,” shared women’s basketball player Jhercey Delegencia from Spruce Meadows Congregation. “I love connecting with different brethren,” said volleyball player Ashley dela Cruz from Mill Woods Congregation, Edmonton.

Track events also inspired players. “Glad I finally got to compete,” said Guian Pascual of the New Westminster Congregation, British Columbia. Sherly Hernaez of East Vancouver Congregation, who won gold in the 400-meter and 800-meter dashes, shared, “Meeting brethren from other congregations made this unforgettable. I thank God for these victories.”

District supervising ministers reflected on the event’s deeper meaning. “This event unites us in one heart, mind, and spirit to the Church Administration,” said Brother Andrade. “We bring home more than medals—we bring joy, love, and unity,” added Brother Tamisin.

Overall, British Columbia topped the medal tally, having received 56 medals, followed by Calgary (15), Edmonton (14), and Saskatchewan (2). Brother Baitan led the awarding ceremony, reminding everyone, “Win or lose, our true victory lies in how we love and uplift one another.” — With assistance from Rhonda Salvani
