Ministers and Church officers led Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members from five local congregations in volunteering to extend help to fellowmen through a blood donation activity.

New Zealand District supervising minister Brother Uziel Bongares oversaw the blood donation activity.

“It is the brethren’s zeal to volunteer recurrently to help their fellowmen. For, this is also their way of fulfilling God’s command, that whenever they possibly can, they must do good to those in need,” Brother Bongares said.

The said congregations were Christchurch, Christchurch East, Fitzgerald, Halswell, and Riccarton.

The blood donation drive was held on November 3, 2025 at the New Zealand Blood Service (NZBS) located along 15 Lester Lane, Addington, Christchurch.

According to NZBS donor relations coordinator Vicente Contreras, a total of 6,500 cc of blood were collected from the donors, who were deemed qualified after undergoing the necessary medical screening.

District Church officers overseer Brother Noel Ilan was himself one of those who volunteered as donors. “It feels fulfilling to know that I’m being of help to the sick who need blood transfusion in order to prolong their life while also taking care of my health,” he said.

Among the Church officers, Christchurch Congregation head deacon Gerald Jacob saw the socio-civic activity as “a way to encourage fellow members to live out Christian values to glorify God through good deeds.”

Lea Muli, head secretary of the same congregation, said, “The activity reminded me how the Church continuously teaches us to care not only for our brethren but also for everyone in the community.”

“I glorify God by helping others, and this is one way to do so,” said choir member Jerryson Bacani, also from Christchurch. “Seeing everyone smiling and supporting one another, I felt blessed being part of the Church that values unity and compassion.” — With assistance from James Tadeo Villanueva
