As the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) approaches its 50th anniversary in Japan on December 6, 2025, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, the Executive Minister, personally visited the brethren and led them in a worship service to offer praises and thanks to God on August 10, 2025. This golden anniversary also coincided with the 48th anniversary of the Tokyo Local Congregation and the 33rd of the Osaka Local Congregation—powerful reminders of how God has sustained His servants in Japan through the decades.
During this momentous occasion, 26 new ministers were ordained—the first such ordination ever held on Japanese soil.
From early morning, brethren from across the country’s two ecclesiastical districts traveled, some for several hours—by train, plane, or car—to attend this special occasion held at the Imperial Hotel Osaka. For the brethren, it was not only a rare opportunity to see their spiritual leader in person but also a moment to receive strength of faith and the spiritual blessings which are much needed considering the challenges of living in a modern and fast-paced society.
After the opening prayer led by Nagoya, Japan District supervising minister Brother Manny S. Benedicto, Brother Eduardo Manalo preached his biblical sermon. He reminded the brethren that the Day of Judgment is near, and so they must remain vigilant. There are many distractions in life—indulgent culture, carefree lifestyle, career, and material wealth—that, while alluring, could easily lead God’s people away from their true purpose. Thus, the Executive Minister exhorted them to focus on the attainment of their salvation.
For the brethren, these words resonated deeply. They understood how subtle distractions could creep into daily life. Yet, hearing the Executive Minister’s reminders strengthened their resolve to fight against worldly influences.
After the biblical sermon of Brother Eduardo Manalo, Brother Romer D. Galang led the congregants in prayer. This was followed by the oath-taking of the ordinands led by Brother Angelo Eraño V. Manalo, the Deputy Executive Minister. After the laying on of hand by the Executive Minister, the prayer was led by Brother Arnel R. Canicosa. Brother Glicerio P. Santos IV led the prayer for the voluntary offerings and Brother Eduardo Manalo said the benediction.
With their eyes fixed on salvation, the brethren in Japan march forward—united, resolute, and ever glorifying God—as they celebrate 50 years of blessings in the Land of the Rising Sun.
