Three days after conducting Lingap sa Mamamayan or Care for Humanity to extend help to families evacuated due to the eruption of the Mayon Volcano in Albay, Philippines, the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) contingent in the province came to their aid once more on January 21, 2026.

Led by Albay District supervising minister Brother Eric B. Zaratan, the said socio-civic activities were held as Mayon Volcano continues to exhibit intensified unrest, which started as early as January 6.

Close to 600 people or more than 370 families, some of whom were Iglesia Ni Cristo members, in the evacuation areas near the San Jose Elementary School and the Bonga Extension’s place of worship received relief packages containing five kilos of rice, canned goods, and coffee.

“Everyone was provided, be they Iglesia Ni Cristo members or not,” said Brother Zaratan. “We continue holding outreach events like this considering how hard it is for our fellowmen to stay at evacuation centers and not fully attend to their livestock, crops, and other livelihoods, even just their houses’ condition.”

“We could barely survive; much harder it is then to recover after this calamity,” said Danilo Gaufo. “I thank the Executive Minister Brother Eduardo V. Manalo for taking care of us, sending to us this aid we truly need.”
