“It’s just so happy, having been part of this big event. We didn’t expect to win,” said Mickaella Marianne Del Mundo of the Bayugo Children’s Choir.

The choir was declared the champion of Bulacan South District’s Himig ng Kaligtasan (Songs of Salvation)-PNK Edition finals held at Meycauayan Sports Complex on February 8, 2026. It was one of the events lined up to commemorate the district’s 15th anniversary.

For the occasion, district music team leader and organist Malvin Nicodemus and assistant choir leader and choir conductor Joern Ira Cruz, both from Bulacan West District, served as judges together with INC Production Company talent and INCinema Soundtrack Producer Alyssa Baggao from Caloocan North District. Their criteria for judging were choral tone (35%), musicality (45%), and overall impact (20%).

District supervising minister Brother Eufracio B. Castillo Jr. graced the event with his presence. He led the awarding of the winners as the event draws to a close. “So a delightful event. Through activities like this, the brethren’s activeness in the faith is truly evident, from the parents to their children. To God be all the glory. He is so good to the Iglesia Ni Cristo,” he enthused.

Aside from being the champion, Bayugo choir also received the “People’s Choice” and “Best Assigned Piece” awards. Other choirs: Panginay Congregation (1st Runner-up), Lambakin (2nd runner up), Catmon (Audience Impact), and Libtong (Best Attire) were also given trophies and certificates of recognition.

“It’s worth noting that upon knowing that this activity was supported by the Church Administration, the children were excited to participate with,” shared CWS teacher Michael Rocio from Bayugo Congregation, who helped organize the event. “Indeed, it served as a way for them to bond with each other.”

The local congregations, whose PNK choirs made it to this district finals, were Bayugo, Catmon, Libtong, Panginay, and Lambakin. PNK stands for Pagsamba ng Kabataan (or Children’s Worship Service or CWS). —With research assistance from Leo Gerrad Marc L. Lazaro and Airel Marco DG. Sarno
