The extensions of the Templo Central Congregation in the LIG Condominiums and in Barangay Pansol, both located in Quezon City, Philippines, now each have worship services with Sign Language (SL) interpretation.
Both the LIG and the Pansol extensions held a worship service integrated with SL for the first time on February 12, 2026, several days after the approval of the Church Administration.
Brother Rodrigo Solver, adviser of Christian Society for the Deaf (CSD) in the Ecclesiastical District of Central, and fellow minister of the gospel Brother Virgilio Vivorey Tasis served as SL interpreters at the LIG Extension. Ministerial workers Brother Willie Suratos Jr. and Brother Ed Vergel Baylon served at the Pansol Extension. Lay SL interpreters were also assigned in both venues, namely, Blessy Benito at the former and Jerly Ann Villanueva at the latter.
“When it was announced that worship services with SL interpretation was approved, I felt excited and more eager to attend worship services,” expressed Maritess Lozada, Deaf member from LIG Extension, using SL.
Marjorie Nevado, Deaf member from Pansol Extension, shared that she was “thankful to the Lord God and the Church Administration for always attending to the spiritual needs of brethren with special needs.”
In an interview, Villanueva said that “The integration of SL interpretation in worship services in these places of worship is a great help to the Deaf brethren.”
“Out of their love and concern for brethren with special needs, the Church Administration implemented that SL interpretation be integrated in certain worship services of local congregations and extensions with Deaf members,” explained Brother Solver. “By having sign language interpretation in their places of worship, the Deaf brethren now also have the great opportunity to share their faith with Deaf nonmembers that they may also give glory to God.”
The schedule of worship services with SL interpretation in the LIG Extension is Thursday at 6:00 a.m. and Saturday at 6:00 a.m., while in the Pansol Extension Thursday at 6:00 a.m. and Sunday at 6:00 a.m. — With reports from Ron Kevin Talens
