An invitation to all people

Join the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ). Here, people will have peace with God and salvation on Judgment Day.

DEVOTED TO THEIR duty of spreading the gospel of salvation, members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) exude great enthusiasm in inviting other people to listen to the words of God being taught therein. Their well-meaning efforts in evangelizing are driven by their concern for others that they may know the truth because that is what leads to salvation:

“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (I Tim. 2:3−4 New King James Version)

No matter how much a man wants to be saved, if he does not come to the knowledge of the truth, then he still will not be saved. The truth that man must know in order for him to be saved is the word of God (John 17:17). God’s words are written in the Holy Scriptures or the Bible (II Tim. 3:15−17). Not only can it be used as basis for how one should properly conduct his life but above all, it teaches the truth about the right way of serving God and of receiving salvation.

The truth according to the Savior

The truth about salvation that the Bible teaches is the undeniable need of man to enter through Christ:

“So Jesus spoke again: In very truth I tell you, I am the door of the sheepfold. … I am the door; anyone who comes into the fold through me will be safe. …” (John 10:7, 9 Revised English Bible)

Based on the command of the Savior Himself, man needs to enter the fold or flock through Him in order to be saved. The flock is the Church Of Christ:

“Take heed therefore to yourselves and to all the flock over which the Holy Spirit has appointed you overseers, to feed the church of Christ which he has purchased with his blood.” (Acts 20:28 Lamsa Translation)

Those who entered the Church became “members” of “the body of Christ” (I Cor. 12:27 King James Version)—the Church, of which He is the head (Col. 1:18)—aptly named the Church Of Christ, which the Savior will save (Eph. 5:23).

The one giving the invitation

The Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, invites all people:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matt. 11:28−29 New International Version)

The Lord Jesus invites all “who are weary and burdened” to come to Him so that they may be given “rest for [their] souls.” This yoke that causes people to be weary or burdened and from which Christ offers rest is sin.

Sin is a burden that is “too heavy to bear” (Ps. 38:3−4 niv). A man may be able to live comfortably because of his wealth, intelligence, and power, yet he still carries a heavy load because of sin, which all men have committed (Rom. 5:12).

“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

I Timothy 2:3–4

New King James Version

Sin or wickedness is man’s heavy burden because the sinner is not at peace with God (Isa. 57:20−21)—man has been separated and rejected by God because of his sin (Isa. 59:2). Furthermore, death is certain for the sinner (Rom. 6:23), and full payment for sin is the second death in the lake of fire (Rev. 21:8 nkjv).

Those who will be punished in the lake of fire will be “tormented with fire and brimstone” and “they [will] have no rest day or night” (Rev. 14:10−11 nkjv). This is the reason our Lord Jesus Christ offers rest for the soul.

Rest for the weary

The Lord Jesus Christ can give people rest for their souls because He was the One who suffered for the iniquities of those whom He will save:

“Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.  We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.” (Isa. 53:4−6 niv)

According to the Bible, “the Lord [God] has laid on him [Christ] the iniquity of us all” and “punished by God … for our transgressions” and “the punishment that brought us peace was on him.” That means that by God’s will, it is Christ who died for the sins of those He will save:

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!” (Rom. 5:8−9 niv)

Those for whom Christ died or were justified by His blood are now certain of being saved from God’s wrath or they will no longer be punished in the lake of fire.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Matthew 11:28–29

New International Version

It is only for the Church, “his body” (Eph. 5:25, 23 Good News Bible), that Jesus offered His life—that is the Church Of Christ that He purchased or redeemed with His blood (Acts 20:28 Lamsa).

Hence, anyone who wants to have peace with God and find rest for his soul should heed the invitation to join the true Church Of Christ.

An invitation to all

The rest for the soul that members of the Church Of Christ will enjoy is complete “rest from their labor” (Rev. 14:12−13 niv) in the new heaven and new earth:

“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The first heaven and the first earth disappeared, and the sea vanished. … He will wipe away all tears from their eyes. There will be no more death, no more grief or crying or pain. The old things have disappeared.” (Rev. 21:1, 4 gnb)

In the new heaven and new earth or Holy City (Rev. 21:2), the complete rest that members of the Church Of Christ will enjoy will not only be rest from their labors but also from grief, crying, and pain for the “old things have disappeared.”

This is the reason Church Of Christ members give this invitation to all people: join the Church Of Christ. Here, people will have peace with God and find rest for their souls or salvation on the Day of Judgment. ❑
