In the Ecclesiastical District of Benguet, in the Philippines, a blood donation drive and an enhancement seminar for Society of Networkers and Communicators International (SCAN) members were held both on November 22, 2025.
Both activities were undertaken under the auspices of the Christian Family Organizations (CFO). “These events share a noble aim—helping our brethren and fellowmen in dire situations,” district CFO overseer Brother John Felix Dungan disclosed.
The blood donation event took place at the P. Burgos Covered Court in Baguio City. More than 140 blood bags were collected from volunteer brethren, who qualified as donors after undergoing medical screening. The procedures were conducted by members of the Benguet District’s Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS) in collaboration with staff members from the Saint Louis Hospital.
Meanwhile, SCAN members assembled at the Local Congregation of Baguio City’s house of worship for their seminar. But before that they rendered a special gathering to worship God, which was officiated at by SCAN Vice Chairman and minister of the gospel Brother Wally Tarray.
In his Scripture-based sermon, he emphasized that devotion in one’s Church duty is needed to be pleasing before the Lord God’s sight. He exhorted the worshipers that even if they endure hardships in fulfilling their duties, they are not at the losing end, because God will uphold them and grant them their aspirations in life.
In the seminar that followed, SCAN Vice President for Training and Membership Donn Alcantara explained how SCAN members can become certified communicators and networkers, and even emergency responders. He pointed out that being skilled in their tasks is necessary in maintaining orderliness during Church activities as well as in responding to emergencies such as during a catastrophe.
“It is the aim of the Church Administration that our brethren in the SCAN organization are well equipped in fulfilling their duties,” Brother Dungan said in an interview. “As saving lives is their priority, being skilled in communication and emergency response will be handy should disasters come. Above all, this is in obedience to God’s will, thus, pleasing before Him.” — With assistance from Heidi Mateo and Henry Caranto
