BIÑAN CITY, Laguna—Inspired by faith and the desire to love and help their fellowmen, approximately 280 individuals participated in a blood donation drive organized by the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) on August 30, 2025, at the Biñan People’s Center in Biñan City, Laguna. This humanitarian event collected nearly 81,000 cubic centimeters of blood, equivalent to 180 blood bags.
Brother Ricardo Alipio, the INC District Supervising Minister in Santa Rosa, Laguna, emphasized the purpose of the activity, which was to help people in hospitals who urgently need blood, especially during times of supply shortage. Brother Jerrylle Lapada, a minister of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) in Santa Rosa City, Laguna, stated that the event was organized with the assistance of Church officers from the Christian Family Organizations (CFO), the Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS), and SCAN International in partnership with the San Pablo College Medical Center (SPCMC).
Senen Abila, a nurse and head of the hospital’s Blood Bank, shared his appreciation, saying the INC holds three to four donation events with them annually. “INC blood drives are always joyful and well-organized. The donors really know what they’re doing, even the first-timers,” he said.
Among those inspired to give was Erwin Aruta, who received a life-saving transfusion after an accident in 2019. Today, he donates blood to help others. Another donor, Alianna Castro, a nursing student, said her father, Felix Castro Jr., inspired her to donate blood. “My dad has been donating blood since I was young. That made me want to do it too,” she said. Her father added that donating blood is one of their ways of following God’s command to love and help others.
