The Ecclesiastical District of Bulacan West, in the Philippines, held a Lingap sa Mamamayan (Care For Humanity) at the house of worship compound of the Local Congregation of Bulusan on October 11, 2025. A total of 1,500 care packages were given to flood-stricken residents of the village of the congregation’s namesake.

District supervising minister Brother Librado V. Santos and assistant district supervising minister Brother David Retuta led fellow ministers and Church officers in handing the care packages, which contained rice, and canned goods, among others.

“Others have evacuated. Our family can’t, as my husband’s working at a nearby city. With means of transportation hindered, it’s a struggle to walk that far,” shared Love Rivero. “Thank you for this aid I received.”

For three months now, the village of Bulusan in Calumpit, Bulacan, Philippines, is submerged from ankle- to waist-deep floodwater. Stormy or not, the usual rain or high tide often engulf the village being located along the Pampanga River, the second-largest river on the island of Luzon.

“Before, it would take more than a year before we get flooded. When the placed riffraff wall was left unfinished, now flood here has become yearly and it won’t subside quickly. We’d use boats as means of transportation but the fare’s high. It has become so hard living here,” said another resident by the name of Rosalie Pereña. Regarding the care packages she received, she added, “Thank you so very much.” — With assistance from Ardie Dionisio
