On April 5, 2024, a day after the Local Congregation of Calauag, in the Ecclesiastical District of Quezon East, Philippines, reached its 80th anniversary, Church members there gathered for a commemorative celebration which was held at Zoelle Lounge Pool in Calauag, Quezon.

The highlight of the event was the reading of message from the Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, a portion of which read, “I wholeheartedly extend my greeting for the congregation’s 80th founding anniversary. I join you in commemoration of this occasion, giving thanks and praises to the Lord God for all His blessings.”

Select brethren, led by Church officers, treated their fellow members to renditions of Iglesia Ni Cristo original music. Brother Rico Melgar, district supervising minister, graced the event.

Reminiscing the history of their congregation through the years, the brethren walked down memory lane via an audio-visual presentation prepared by the Church officers. Also part of the program was the giving of certificates of appreciation to seasoned Church officers and members who stay active in the faith despite their old age.

“The selfless efforts of the pioneering members, including my grandparents and parents, for the growth of the congregation serve as my inspiration to continue serving God,” Consolacion Lisboa-Villaverde, a Buklod member, said. “I thank the Almighty Father for placing the Church Administration who continues encouraging us to remain and all the more be active in the faith.”

“I uphold my membership in the Iglesia Ni Cristo through which I’m able to conduct the true worship of the Lord God and thereby receive His guidance, protection, and blessings,” shared John Rey Merjilla, finance officer.

The local congregation held its first worship service at a rented property in the village of Pinagbayanan, Calauag, Quezon. Its 800-seater concrete house of worship was dedicated to God on October 18, 2002. At present, it is under the leadership of Brother Antonio Lopez, resident minister. — With reports from Loren Regidor of INC News Section
