On January 30, 2026, the Ecclesiastical District of Mountain States brought together in a special gathering all the Church officers under its supervision. In addition, 53 new ones took their oath of office in the said gathering.
District supervising minister Brother Barrington Thompson officiated the holy occasion at the house of worship of the Local Congregation of Henderson, Nevada.
Therein gathered officers from local congregations across Nevada region. Their colleagues from local congregations in the regions of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah, meanwhile, gathered at respective houses of worship, which were connected via livestreaming.
During his homily, Brother Thompson reiterated the Bible-based lesson about the Church officers’ must-have qualities. Serving God through their sworn duties and responsibilities is both a sacred trust and a blessing, thus they must always serve as role models in dedication, obedience, and unity in fulfilling their entrusted roles.
After the lesson, district Church officers overseer Brother Arnel Docena led the oath-taking of the newly appointed officers who promised to God to serve Him faithfully for the sake of the Church’s welfare and most especially for His glory.
Among those who took oath was Children’s Worship Service teacher Derrick Justin Rodriguez from Las Vegas, Nevada Congregation. “I wanted to give everything I have—my best—in performing my duties, for everything also comes from God. I also want to inspire the kids to also keep fulfilling their God-given duties no matter what happens,” he said.
Deacon Jamie Legore from South Las Vegas Congregation shared how serving as a Church officer strengthens his and his family’s faith: “Keeping ourselves involved with Church activities brings us closer to God. That’s why it’s really important for me, my wife, and kids to have duties in the Church. Me and my wife also continuously teach our children to trust in God at all times.”
“Helping the brethren and serving God is so fulfilling. On my part, I always try to please God with all honesty and wholeheartedly,” shared deaconess Gladys Pickens from North Las Vegas Congregation. “I’m so thankful to the Church Administration for uplifting us officers, bringing us together, and teaching us to love one another.”
Deaconess Marianne Tejada from South Las Vegas Congregation also expressed her joy upon attending the gathering: “The reason I really want to live my life fulfilling my office is my gratitude towards God. He never abandoned me and granted my heartfelt requests. That’s why I do my best to honor Him through my duty.” — With assistance from Ron Poblete
