On November 1, 2025, Children’s Worship Service (CWS) teachers and presidents from Rizal District, in the Philippines, led a tree-planting activity.
Held right behind the place of worship of Kaysakat Extension of Buso-Buso Congregation, which is located at a hill in Sitio Kaysakat 3, Brgy. San Jose, Antipolo, the activity saw more than 300 CWS officers in attendance.
They first gathered at the house of worship of EGM Congregation for a prayer led by Summerville Congregation resident minister Brother Renz Jade Ballesteros. Then, after receiving a few reminders from CWS Committee chairperson Marites San Juan, participants proceeded to the site, half-an-hour away.
At the site, Eduardo Gaspado from Buso-Buso Congregation, who is also a Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) representative, oriented and afterwards guided the officers in the proper way of planting seedlings of fruit-bearing trees, which were jackfruit (150 seedlings), guava (100), tuai (100), kalumpit (100), narra (25), and cashew (25).
Asked what inspired the CWS officers to hold such an activity, San Juan said in an interview afterwards, “We want to be of help in protecting and taking care of our nature. It’s also our way of uniting with the Church Administration in every activity being launched in the Church.” – With assistance from Francis Cuenca
