From 31 local congregations of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) in the Ecclesiastical District of Bulacan South, Philippines, came forward a total of 450 brethren for a district-wide blood donation activity held at Meycauayan Sports Complex on January 17, 2026.
Such turnout was inspired by the activity’s significance, that is, “We help the community, especially those in need of blood, such as cancer patients, trauma patients, and those who undergo dialysis,” attested blood bank physician Dr. Rachelle Anne T. Alfaro of the Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital (JBLMGH).
With the donors doing their part in alleviating others’ plight, Alfaro added the benefits that they could gain after donation: “Aside from having their blood replenished, they also lessen the risk of their having cardiovascular diseases. Because of the health screenings prior to the actual donation, donors also got to know how’s their body, if their blood pressure is high, if their hemoglobin is either high or low, among other vitals.”
Facilitated by the district’s Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society and the Society of Communicators and Networkers International, in cooperation with a team from JBLMGH, this socio-civic activity was personally supervised by district supervising minister Brother Eufracio B. Castillo Jr. A total of 189 blood bags were collected.
“I’ve been a regular blood donor, for the benefits I get here is truly evident. Right after donating, I feel good physically. I don’t often get sick,” said Noel Dela Cruz from Tumana Extension.
“The brethren were happy. They wholeheartedly participated as they know full well that it’s our way to be of help to others, which is God’s command that we thereby obey,” said Brother Castillo. – With research assistance from Alena Molit
