The Ecclesiastical District of Ilocos Sur, in the Philippines, helped in replenishing the blood supply of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) in Region I through a blood donation activity held at the Innovation Center of Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College, Santa Maria Campus on January 31, 2026.

Ministers, ministerial workers, Society of Communicators and Networkers International (SCAN) members, and district Christian Family Organizations (CFO) officers participated in the humanitarian activity, which was overseen by district supervising minister Brother Miamino Miclat.

“Our brethren in this district look forward to events such as this, as they see these as an opportunity to prove their love for others and fulfill the Lord God’s commandment to help our fellowmen,” observed assistant district supervising minister Brother Adonnis Raza. “They also recognize the significant health benefits that come with this act of service.

Medical personnel from various hospitals in Ilocos Sur province, representatives from the PRC, and Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS) officers facilitated the screening and collecting of blood. They administered health screening to the 516 potential blood donors such as weight measuring, blood pressure monitoring, and hemoglobin level checking.

“Regular blood donation rejuvenates the body by stimulating the bone marrow to produce fresh cells while preventing complications from excess iron and high hemoglobin,” explained CMDPS officer Dr. Edgardo Rante from the Local Congregation of Sta. Maria. “This life-saving act also helps manage blood pressure and cholesterol levels and provides a vital supply for hospitals facing shortages.”

With the activity, 111 blood bags were added to the supply of the PRC in Ilocos Region.

“I’m truly grateful that the Church Administration launched this activity to help those in urgent need of blood and this drives me to participate,” expressed district KADIWA officer Ernilex Aurelio from the Local Congregation of Vigan City. “Personally, I feel it’s a great boost for my health and overall physical strength.” — With assistance from Edlyn Antolin
