INC Unity Games in Los Angeles County boosts solidarity amongst brethren

Professional gamers and enthusiasts in the Ecclesiastical District of Los Angeles County, California, converged for their INC Unity Games: E-sports Edition. It was held at the Oxnard Congregation’s function hall on November 2, 2025.

“Approved by the Church Administration, this version of the Unity Games is aimed at promoting and bolstering the Christian bond among brethren from all ages,” said district Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer Brother Pierre Cardin Perez. “This also aims to raise awareness that such games are beneficial for brethren if they maintain discipline and result to closer relationship with friends and families.”

The said Unity Games featured four popular e-games: Valorant, a 5v5 first person strategic shooter; Marvel Rivals, 6v6 multiplayer role-playing game; Mariokart 8 Deluxe, multiplayer racing game; and Super Smash Bros Ultimate, multiplayer fighting simulator.

After the opening remarks by Brother Perez at the chapel grounds, everyone in attendance proceeded to the function hall. There a total of 85 players, both as team and individual, tested their mettle.

Caleb Bernardino of Oxnard won top spot in Mariokart 8; Eldrick Rillera of Santa Clarita Congregation in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. For Valorant, the team of Seth Paras, Kenneth Devis, Maverick Devis, Jessica Macatangay, and Andre Bucsit was declared the champion; for Marvel Rivals, the team of Collin Herreria, Rachelle Fernandez, Michael Fernandez, Mark Aquino, and Charlton Abegonia.

Abegonia from Oxnard said, “Playing these games help me relieve stress and bond with my peers and family. I like to showcase my skills in these but above all to form a strong sense of camaraderie with my brethren.”

Led by district supervising minister Brother Artemio T. Pilon, Jr., the awarding of medals concluded the much-anticipated event. The top players and teams were commended on stage. Tokens of appreciation were also given to other participants. — With assistance from Eva Basallaje
