The Ecclesiastical District of Makati conducted its first district-wide baptism for 2026 at the house of worship of the Local Congregation of Pasay on January 24. It yielded 113 new members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ).

District supervising minister Brother Dominador F. Tapang Jr. officiated at the baptismal gathering. In his homily, he reminded the candidates for baptism that true baptism is found only in the true Church Of Christ. But to ensure salvation, Brother Tapang clarified, being baptized is not enough. Being in the true Church entails a lifelong commitment of unwavering obedience to God’s commands, such as living a holy life.

After the study of God’s words, the candidates for baptism took their oath of membership led by district edification overseer Brother Henry Robles. Then, fellow ministers of the gospel, administered the baptism by immersion in the baptismal pool.

“I’m happy that I can now truly serve God, the Almighty Father, and receive His bountiful blessings especially when I worship Him,” said newly baptized Romnick Sace from Pasay Congregation. “Here in the Church Of Christ, I can worship the one true God with solemnity. And the teachings are indeed in the Bible.”

“I’ve long awaited this moment. I didn’t expect to make it through due to my various assignments as a soldier, but I’m grateful that I’ve always felt God helping me,” expressed another newly baptized, Christian Philip Salvador from North Signal Congregation. He added, “God continually guides me in everything I do. I thank Him deeply for calling me into the Church.”

From Central Signal Congregation, newly baptized John Vincent Yaya shared, “What truly encouraged me to become a member of the Church Of Christ is the teaching about salvation. I’ll do my part to help encourage my friends and loved ones so that they, too, may find the truth regarding salvation.”

Right after the baptismal gathering, the newly baptized and the brethren instrumental in their conversion gathered for a “Welcome, Kapatid Ko” activity. After a prayer and opening remarks by district Light Of Salvation overseer Brother Randy Santos, the Church officers led in congratulating the converts and welcoming them to the Christian Family Organizations (CFO) that they respectively belong. Making it more memorable, they received souvenirs after a prayer by the congregation CFO overseer Brother Jonard Salizer. — With assistance from May Ann Dela Cruz
