Dubbed “Beauty and Wellness for Senior Citizens,” the Buklod Cares of the Ecclesiastical District of Manila, in the Philippines, was thus made more special for the benefit of elderly members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ). It was held at the San Andres Complex, Malate on August 16, 2025.

Spearheaded by district officers of Buklod and the Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society, the whole-day activity started with a prayer led by assistant district supervising minister Brother Nelson Serrano. Then, district supervising minister Brother Wilson Cayago gave the opening remarks. He encouraged the brethren to remain steadfast in serving God no matter what happens to attain salvation.

While the attendees availed free wellness services including medical check-ups, haircuts, nail care, among other treatments, talented KADIWA brethren filled the air with their song performances. The seniors themselves enjoyed singing through the Videoke Challenge. They also watched CEBSI films titled Esperanza and Rendebu. PhilHealth and district counseling seminars, and souvenir items, such as mugs and walking canes, likewise brought smiles to the elderly.

A 66-year-old Maximo Dela Cruz from Barrio Obrero Congregation expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the care extended by the Church Administration. “I had a haircut. I also availed the free check-up with a doctor. It’s good to know the medicine I need to take. I also learned that I should always keep in check my blood sugar level.”

“When I heard that there’s an activity for the elderly, I came right away,” shared 75-year-old deaconess Enriqueta Eñere from Baseco Congregation. “I availed all the services. Thank you for such care for us.”

“I haven’t had a medical check-up for a long time, but now I did. I’m grateful,” said 73-year-old Hermina Rubiso from the Magsaysay Congregation. — With reports from Diana Ronquillo of INC News Section
