In commemoration of the 139th birth anniversary of Brother Felix Y. Manalo (1886-1963), God’s Messenger in these last days, the Ecclesiastical District of Manitoba, Canada, held a series of activities last month.
These activities were evangelical missions for the proclamation of the gospel of salvation, special gathering for the worship of the Lord, CFO Cares, Care for Humanity, Unity Games, and baptism.
On May 2, 2025, evangelical missions were conducted in multiple houses of worship, including that of Rathwell, Winnipeg South, Neepawa, and Weston Local Congregations. There, brethren from other congregations brought guests.
District supervising minister Brother Roland Andrade, assistant district supervising minister Brother LJ Ricardo, district auditor Brother Edgardo Dela Cruz, and district secretary Brother Edson Crisostomo led the study of God’s words at the said venues, respectively.
In their Bible-based preaching, the officiating ministers expounded that the Bible, being the repository of God’s words, must be the sole basis of faith and service of Him.
“Today was fulfilling, talking with the minister about dedicating life to believing in and obeying God’s words resonated within me,” expressed guest Aline Dateu, who attended at Rathwell house of worship. “I look forward to returning here,” she added.
“Sharing our faith is a commandment of God and a fundamental doctrine upheld in the Church Of Christ, being written in the Bible. Doing so paves the way for more people to rightfully serve Him and for them to be saved,” shared district Church officers overseer Brother Regibert Calma.
Two days after, on May 4, Brother Andrade led the special gathering of households at the Winnipeg South Congregation’s house of worship. He exhorted the attendees through a biblical lesson to actively participate in propagating the pure gospel. He took the opportunity to encourage the single young men present to consider joining the holy ministry to be of help to the Church.
“The importance of propagating God’s words can never be overemphasized,” said KADIWA member Zyrhenz Dela Cruz from Steinbach Congregation. “As what was mentioned in the Bible, ‘the harvest is plenty but the workers are few.’ That means more people must know the truth that will lead them to salvation and so, the Church needs more ministerial workers to lead in the work of propagating God’s words,” he explained.
The Christian Family Organizations (CFO) officers spearheaded a CFO Cares activity on May 11 at various venues, such as the Weston Congregation function hall, Neepawa Congregation compound, and the community park of Notre Dame de Lourdes at Box 89, Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, Manitoba. They provided free services, such as checkups, haircuts, care packages, and refreshments.
On behalf of the district, Brother Andrade said, “We’re thankful to our Lord God’s guidance having conducted the first CFO Cares in our district. This activity has been significant because the selfless efforts reflect how great the love of the Administration is for the members of the Church Of Christ.”
For the young members, the district KADIWA officers set up a candy booth and also handed out school supplies.
“This activity aimed at caring for the brethren. And so we, officers, show such care for those whom we’re leading,” said district KADIWA secretary Gwenneth Marasigan from Winnipeg South Congregation.
In collaboration with the Church’s humanitarian arm, the Felix Y. Manalo Foundation Inc., the district lent a helping hand through the Care for Humanity event held at Weston Congregation function hall on May 17.
Quoting the Bible, Brother Andrade introduced the Church and the rationale for its socio-civic projects. These were further detailed in a video presentation featuring the Church’s worldwide humanitarian programs.
Afterwards, the brethren handed care packages containing canned goods, pasta, vitamins, among others, to the guest-recipients.
One of them, a certain Mr. Kazeem Amoo, said, “Prices [of basic necessities] keep increasing nowadays. What I’ve received will truly help my family.”
For the district’s INC Unity Games, players and spectators gathered at the Niverville High School for the volleyball matches, and at the nearby Niverville Community Resource and Recreation Centre for the basketball matches.
Elimination rounds took place on May 18, and the semi-finals and finals the next day, followed by the awarding ceremony.
“Competitiveness was evident but more than that, the players aimed for unity, as it not only strengthens their bond, but more so their faith,” said district CFO overseer Brother Kyle Solano.
The winning teams, awarded with trophies and medals, hailed from the Local Congregations of Weston (KADIWA/Binhi basketball), Burrows (men’s volleyball), and Winnipeg North (Buklod basketball, women’s volleyball).
“Our team’s practices were worth it. It’s fun to be here,” shared basketball player Johann Abad from the Winnipeg North Congregation.
The last of the district’s activities was a baptism that was administered at the house of worship of the Local Congregation of Winnipeg South on May 25.
Brother Andrade, who officiated at the baptismal gathering, reiterated to the baptismal candidates that to receive God’s perfect love found only in the true Church Of Christ, they should abide by His teachings they received during their doctrinal instruction and would keep receiving in the worship service.
“It’s important for one to be baptized in the Church Of Christ. For, it is only where one will have the privilege to worship and serve the Lord God and also the Lord Jesus Christ,” explained district Technical Support for Videostreaming coordinator Brother Jason Abrias. “Also, he will receive God’s greatest blessing: salvation on the Day of Judgment.”
“I’m happy for being baptized in the Church today,” expressed newly-baptized Sharmaine Bracamonte from the Winnipeg South Congregation. “I’ll continue in my worship services to God, fulfill my duties to Him, and participate in Church activities.”
