New officers in the Ecclesiastical District of Southern Leyte, in the Philippines, took their oath of duty during special gatherings that were held on April 20, 2025.

These sacred gatherings were conducted at ten houses of worship, that of the Local Congregations of Burgos, Hilongos, Hinundayan, Inopacan, Maasin, Pasanon, Pondol, Sogod, St. Bernard, and Upper Higuloan. In these venues, Church officers from neighboring congregations attended.

For the occasion, assistant district supervising minister Brother Antonio Doydoy officiated for the St. Bernard Congregation; his fellow ministers constituting the district leadership leading at the rest of the said venues. They were district treasurer Brother Renato Jimenez (Maasin), district Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer Brother Siegfred Ronquillo (Sogod), district edification overseer Brother Erwin Cabanit (Hilongos), district Light of Salvation (LOS) overseer Brother Paterno Tolarba (Burgos), district auditor Brother Moises Dequiña Sr. (Inopacan), district preparatory teacher Brother Jovilito Villazorda (Hinundayan), district secretary Brother Wilfredo Labajo (Pondol), assistant district secretary Brother George Alampas (Upper Higuloan), and district Church officers overseer Brother Andie Millo Jr. (Pasanon).

A total of 91 new officers in the district were sworn in their duties during the sacred gathering.

“The sworn duty must be truly valued, never neglected,” explained newly sworn Society of Communicators and Networkers International (SCAN) member John Wayne Coñado from the Burgos Congregation. “I will fulfill my responsibilities with honesty and dedication,” he added.

Officiating ministers preached a Bible-based lesson about performing Church duties devotedly, as well as other endeavors in the Church, being works of God to edify His true servants. As attested to by God Himself through His words written in the Bible, He will magnanimously grant blessings to dedicated Church officers.

“I’m grateful to witness many newly appointed officers taking oath, myself included,” expressed newly-sworn LOS secretary Hannah Joyce Lombres from the San Francisco Congregation. “The lesson taught during the sacred gathering was uplifting. As God’s entrusted duty is considered a treasured blessing, I was reminded to hold on to the faith despite life’s trials. On my part, I promise to remain steadfast in serving the Lord, fulfilling my sworn duties within the Church no matter the challenges I face.” — With reports from Roland D. Romero
