Families from all local congregations and group worship services in the Ecclesiastical District of New Zealand South enjoyed during the Christian Family Organizations (CFO) Family Fun Day on December 7, 2025.
Parents and children had fun together and with other families taking part in worthwhile activities aimed primarily at their edification in the faith and at strengthening further both the familial bond and the Christian brotherhood.
The event was held each by the district’s three “regions,” or groups of adjoining congregations, in separate venues. Church members from the Christchurch region gathered at Bishopdale Park, those from Invercargill region at Mable Bush Hall, and those from Otago region at Alpha Street Reserve Playground.
Respectively, they were led by district supervising minister Brother Uziel Bongares, district multimedia adviser Brother Glenn Mergas, and fellow minister Brother Erani Gonzales.
In each venue, the activity began with a prayer and opening remarks. Fun games were prepared and facilitated by the district CFO officers for all family members to enjoy. These playground games included basketball shootout, Fun Zipline, tug-of-war, tissue roll game, and dodgeball. There was also a picnic, which further paved the way for everyone to establish new friendships, aside from strengthening old ones.
“My inspiration to participate in this kind of activity is one of the noble aims of the Church Administration, that is, to edify the faith of the Christian families,” district Buklod secretary Hasmin Bacani said.
“It’s heartwarming to see fathers, mothers, and children taking part in the activities together,” said choir member Eldenice Quijano from Cromwell Congregation of Otago Region. “As a Buklod member, it’s very important that the bond between Christian families and respective family members is always strong.”
The would-be members also experienced such joy of participating in Church activities. One of them, Shallom Someka, a doctrinal instructee from Invercargill South Congregation, shared, “This activity helped me feel more connected with the brethren in our congregation. The games and group activities encouraged teamwork and camaraderie, and I truly appreciated the joyful atmosphere—a refreshing break to strengthen belongingness.” — With reports from James Thadeo Villanueva
