On November 10, 2025, a few days after TS Kalmaegi (Local name: Tino) hit Cebu, psychosocial support activities were conducted by the INC Pastoral Counseling Center (PCC) in the Ecclesiastical District of Carcar City, Cebu, in the Philippines.

“The Church Administration initiated these activities to care for the mental health of the brethren in local congregations affected by the typhoons that recently struck,” Brother Michael Gale, minister of the gospel from the INC Pastoral Counseling Office, said.

The said activities were held in the houses of worship of the Local Congregations of Don Juan Climaco Sr. and Mainggit. Minister of the gospel Brother Elson Sarmiento presided at the former, while Brother Elmar Palapar II officiated at the latter.

Prior to the activities, the said ministers encouraged the brethren that as servants of God, they must completely put the hope and trust in Him, especially in the face of severe trials, including calamities. Then, district supervising minister Brother Abner Flores and minister of the gospel from INC PCC Brother Nicsan Barrios led the congregants in a prayer in the said congregations, respectively.

After the activity, Buklod, KADIWA, and Binhi members conducted stress debriefing to help the attendees process a traumatic event, realize their reactions, and cope with the situations. Meanwhile, the KADIWA and Binhi members held Play Therapy where, through board games, they were able to vent out their emotions. Concurrently, coloring materials and books were given to the Children’s Worship Service (CWS) members to enhance their creativity and express their feelings.

“I am overjoyed for the Church Administration sent ministers to assess our condition and guide us through biblical counsel. It greatly uplifted us to remain faithful amidst the calamities that may strike our community,” Crister Baron, a Church officer from Mainggit Congregation, said. – With reports from from Arcel Lubugan
