TUY, Batangas — During times of disaster, every bit of help from concerned residents goes a long way.

This was what happened when firemen battled a blaze that lasted for about 24 hours at a storage warehouse containing electrical wires and fiber cables along Maharlika Highway in Barangay Guinhawa, Tuy, Batangas. The fire, which started on Friday morning, May 16, 2025, was declared “fire out” at 11:40 a.m., the following day, Saturday, May 17, 2025. It was declared “under control” a few hours later, at around 2:43 p.m., according to official reports. INC Giving volunteers helped provide food and drinking water for the firemen and other fire volunteers.

Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) members in Barangay Guinhawa brought food and drinking water for the firefighters and volunteers who helped fight the fire. By Saturday afternoon, May 17, 2025, after the fire had been declared under control, they also helped clean the surrounding area.

Rudy Capacia, one of the officials of Barangay Guinhawa, expressed gratitude to the INC volunteers. “We are very thankful to the INC members. The food they provided was a big help to the firefighters and volunteers who fought the fire,” he said.

The Iglesia Ni Cristo is a community partner that helps. It has active members and congregations in more than 160 countries and territories.
