Close to a hundred members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) from 29 local congregations in the Ecclesiastical District of Rizal, in the Philippines, volunteered for a blood donation drive. The activity was held at the parking lot of the INC housing community behind the house of worship of the Local Congregation of Angono on November 29, 2025.

The Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital, whose patients would be the event’s beneficiaries, led in facilitating the event. They were assisted by the district Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS) president Dr. Helen Martin and fellow CMDPS officers, with guidance from the district Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer Brother Earl Gem Lacson.

The procedures, especially the health screening, were strictly implemented to ensure the donors’ and recipients’ safety. “All donors have to fill up first a health questionnaire, have their BMI taken, blood pressure, pulse rate, and temperature checked. There’s even hemoglobin test to know if a donor might be anemic. One is not allowed to donate if he has health issues,” attested Dr. Leonora Tolentino of Cainta Congregation.

A total of 67 qualified to donate. “Knowing a donation of one donor can save up to three lives, that’s a psychological benefit to the donor while being of help to those in need of blood transfusion. And he also gained potential cardiovascular benefits, that is, he has low risk of iron overload for donating blood helps regulate iron levels in the blood,” added Tolentino regarding the benefits of blood donation.

“It’s my sixth time donating,” shared Sophia San Jose of Kadalagahan Congregation. “It has been the norm for me, that every after six months I volunteer for blood donation. Through this, I am able to help people in my own little way.” – With photos from Robin Angelo Marimla
