On December 14, 2025, the Ecclesiastical District of San Diego County, California held the INC Unity Games-Pickleball edition at a facility of the Arrowood Golf Course in Oceanside, California, USA. The activity promoted deeper connection and brotherly love among the participants.

Currently one of the fastest-growing sport in their region, pickleball is easy to learn and highly social, that is, promoting social interaction over competition.

First-time players along with seasoned ones enjoyed the games’ doubles matches category. District supervising minister Brother Matthew Capistrano led this sporting event.

“It wasn’t just about winning points,” shared player Isabella Sales from the Local Congregation of Vista, California. “It was more about reinforcing our unity as brothers and sisters in the faith.”

Further explaining the activity’s goal, event organizer and district Buklod president Justin Martin said that it was “to create an environment where physical activity and brotherhood go hand in hand. When people feel connected, they’re more likely to take care of themselves and each other.”

Culminating the event was the awarding of trophies to outstanding players. Jon Lagpacan (Temecula Valley Congregation) and Ivan Medida (Chula Vista) emerged in the first place. Lennard and Leah Ordinario (National City) and Adonis and Christine Buena Vista (Chula Vista) placed second and third, respectively.

“The game levels the playing field,” observed Medida from the Chula Vista Congregation. “It promotes activeness, movement, while talking and building connections in between games. That’s what made it special.” — With assistance from Christian Benedict Co
