“With our province being frequently hit by typhoons, earthquakes, and floods, the role of SCAN is extremely vital. Many brethren and fellowmen need immediate assistance during disasters. It’s the SCAN, by facilitating communication and swiftly relaying instructions, who can reach out and ensure the safety of our fellow members, even of nonmembers,” said Western Samar District supervising minister Brother Arnulfo Soliman.

On July 5, 2025, officers and members of the Society of Communicators and Networkers International (SCAN) from the said district and two others in Samar, Philippines, namely, Northern Samar and Eastern Samar, convened at the house of worship of Calbayog City Congregation to attend a special meeting and the “Empowerment and Level-Up” seminar.

The Church Administration sent Brother Gerry Purificacion, SCAN spiritual adviser, to lead the said events. As its name signifies, the seminar was aimed at further enhancing the SCAN members’ skills in performing their duty. Most of all, they were taught God’s words, which is their guide in faithfully performing their duties.

“I truly need this, being empowered primarily by God’s words as I fulfill my duties in the Church,” Malayog Congregation SCAN officer Maria Estrella Lampago said in an interview after the seminar.

“This activity for the SCAN officers is a clear manifestation of the continuous love and concern of the Church Administration,” said Brother Soliman. On their behalf, he added, “We thank our beloved Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo. Our well-being, especially our spiritual welfare, is truly taken care of.” — With reports from Freinsly Buere of INC News Section
