A total of 1,000 seedlings were planted during the tree-planting activity that the Ecclesiastical District of Naga City, Camarines Sur, in the Philippines, conducted at San Alfonso Forest-in-Our-Midst (FOM) Site, Naga City, Camarines Sur on October 11, 2025.
Before the actual planting, the brethren first gathered in the Pacol Sports Complex, which is approximately 1.4 kilometers away or 15-minute walk to the said site. There, they received a few reminders from the district supervising minister Brother Misael Dungca Jr. Upon commending everyone’s effort being present in the activity, he shared how “timely this event is, considering the occurrence of flash floods at low-lying areas. Indeed, this cause is beneficial at present and in the future,” he said.
Afterwards, biologist Raymund De la Cruz of Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO)-Watershed Management Division oriented the participants about the proper way of planting.
At the site, the seedlings planted were narra, rarang, chestnut, alibangbang or butterfly tree, pili, and mandaguini. To further make sure that they were planting properly, ENRO socio-cultural division staff Gilbert Maleniza and Special Concerns Team Technical Personnel Julia Ramirez kept an eye on their actual tree planting.
“I thank the Iglesia Ni Cristo for being of help in planting trees, especially at this site located near a creek. Thus, this endeavor can be of help in preventing soil erosion. The brethren even assured to continue caring for what they’ve planted, for a few months, to make sure that these will truly grow,” said De la Cruz. — With assistance from Cherry Abad
