QUEZON CITY, Philippines — The Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) received top honors from two leading government hospitals on July 11, 2025, for its consistent and large-scale support to blood donation programs.

The National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) recognized the INC as “invaluable partner” during the 19th Kabalikat Awards held at the Dr. Enrique T. Ona Auditorium in Quezon City.

The same day, Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital (JBLMGH) honored the Church as its Top Performing Blood Partner during its National Blood Donors Month celebration at the Heroes Hall in San Fernando City, Pampanga.

Both awards highlighted the Church’s long-standing commitment to regular and nationwide blood donation activities, which have helped save thousands of lives.

“One of the major organizations that has been a partner of the NKTI for more than two decades is the INC. Also, the Church supports the NKTI and many other blood donation programs; for that, we thank you. That is why this event, the 19th Kabalikat Awards of NKTI, honors the INC and its coordinators who work behind the scenes to ensure the success of every blood donation program,” said Dr. Valerie Anne T. Tesoro, NKTI’s Acting Chair for the Department of Health. “More than 25,000 patients benefit annually because of our partners like the INC,” she added.

Receiving the two awards on behalf of the Church, Brother Dan Omar Leybag, INC minister and representative, expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed the Church’s commitment to helping our fellowmen.

“[The] National Kidney and Transplant Institute recognizes the significant contribution of the Church to blood donation. As we all know, there is a great need among our fellow citizens suffering from illnesses. As members of the INC, we continue to carry out this effort weekly in various places,” he said.

Dr. Gil Bryan Galvan, Head of the JBLMGH Blood Bank, acknowledged the Church’s substantial contributions: “We honor our blood donors every July, and the Iglesia Ni Cristo continues to be one of our Top Performing Blood Partners.”

Brother Leybag received the award from JBLMGH on behalf of the INC. “We are filled with joy because once again, Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital (JBLMGH) has granted Iglesia Ni Cristo an award as one of the Top Performing Blood Partners. Consistently, year after year, we receive this kind of recognition from JBLMGH,” he said.

Both hospitals emphasized the critical role of partner organizations like the INC in maintaining stable blood supplies for patients with urgent medical needs.

The Iglesia Ni Cristo is a Christian religion present in more than 160 countries and territories, widely recognized for its humanitarian and community outreach efforts.
